EMAS

 

The Community Eco-Management and Audit System (EMAS) is a voluntary mechanism that aims to promote the continuous improvement of the environmental performance of organizations through the establishment and implementation of environmental management systems, as well as the provision of relevant information to the public and other parties. interested.

EMAS was established by Regulation (EEC) No. 1836/93, of 29 June (EMAS I), and was initially restricted to the participation of companies in the industrial sector.
